PORTSMOUTH — The upcoming production of “The Lion King Jr.” musical at Portsmouth Middle School will have some strong representation from the Lehane family.

Three sisters are involved in the show:

• Mary, who attends Stonehill College, is doing the marketing for the production and is co-directing.

• Kerry is the musical director for the show, which she’s doing as her senior project at Portsmouth High School. (She played the lead in “The Little Mermaid” years back, with Mary directing the show as her senior project as well.)

• Meghan is one of the stars of the show, playing the part of Rafiki.

“The Lion King” will be staged at Portsmouth Middle School at 6 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, March 30-31.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
