A winter storm warning remains in effect as wind-driven snow continues to fall aross the region. As much as 14 inches is possible in some areas before the storm ends around 1 a.m., the National Weather Service reports.
The snow will be heavy at times throughout Saturday evening and will be accompanied by strong wind gusts as high as 36 mph. Six to 10 inches are expected for much of the area by nightfall, with another 2-4 inches falling before tapering off. The winds, however, will continue to blow through 3 a.m. and temperatures will drop into the teens.
More snow showers are possible Sunday, mainly after 4 p.m., though little to no accumulation is expected. Then the frigid temperatures set in, dropping into single digits in many areas overnight Sunday, before warming into the mid-20s Monday afternoon.
