Monday, Aug. 29

At 1:12 p.m., a Long Highway resident reported losing his motorcycle license plate.

At 4:18 p.m., a Long Highway resident reported receiving several IRS scam calls.

A High Meadow Road resident at 7:21 p.m., reported that a large piece of construction equipment had been stolen from his property. After a several-day investigation, the equipment was recovered.

Little Compton Police: Car hits wall, then tree, then flips

Monday, Aug. 29
At 1:12 p.m., a Long Highway resident reported losing his motorcycle license plate.
At 4:18 p.m., a Long Highway resident reported receiving several IRS scam calls.
A High Meadow Road resident at 7:21 p.m., reported that a large piece of construction equipment had been stolen from his property. After a several-day investigation, the equipment was recovered.
Tuesday, Aug. 30
At 9:11 a.m., a West Main Road resident reported seeing a suspicious male walking around on his neighbor’s property. Officers checked the area but were not able to locate the person.
At 1:22 p.m., a Burchard Avenue resident reported receiving several IRS scam calls over the past few days.
At 2:07 p.m., a driver on the Commons was pulling into a parking spot when he sideswiped a parked car. Both cars sustained minor damage.
A Newport resident reported at 3:40 p.m. that a Little Compton resident had obtained his personal information and tried opening several credit cards.
At 3:05 p.m., a worker at Commons Lunch turned in a credit card someone had left behind. Officers contacted the owner who came to retrieve it.
At 3:35 p.m., officers responded to a call saying that a car had driven onto the beach at South Shore Beach and gotten stuck in the sand. The driver said she pulled too close to the rocks and while trying to back up she slid, causing her car to become stuck. With the assistance of the lifeguards, the vehicle was pushed off the beach and back to the parking lot.
At 4:35 p.m. a caller reported that another car had driven onto the sand at South Shore beach and gotten stuck in the sand.
At 5:03 p.m., a Butts Rock Road resident reported getting a scam call from someone claiming to be from the IRS.
A Peckham Road resident reported at 9:10 p.m. that someone had been sending her harassing text messages.
Wednesday, Aug. 31
A Town Way resident reported at 3 p.m. getting an IRS scam call.
Thursday, Sept. 1
A caller at 9:10 a.m. from Wilbur School reported suspicious writing on school property.
A West Main Road resident called at 10:43 a.m. to report receiving an IRS scam call.
At 4:41 p.m., a worker at the town maintenance building said someone had walked into the building and stolen a leaf blower.
Saturday, Sept. 3
Police at 1:45 a.m. saw a car traveling south on West Main Road with no headlights on. They turned around to stop it and found it had struck a stone wall, a tree, and then had flipped over several times. Both occupants of the vehicle were transported to the hospital with injuries, and the vehicle sustained heavy damage. Police are investigating the incident.
At 10:10 a. m., a South of Commons resident reported someone had placed a political sign on private property. She removed the sign and turned it over to police.
At 12:06 p.m., a West Main Road resident turned in some items he had found on the side of the road.
At 7:12 p.m., a Shaw Road resident resident reported loud music coming from his neighbors. A decibel reading was taken and the sound was found to be acceptable.
At 7:54 p.m. a Pleasant View Drive resident loud music coming from his neighbors. A decibel reading was taken and the sound was found to be acceptable.
At 10:29 p.m., the same resident reported loud music still coming from his neighbors. A decibel reading was taken again and the sound was still found to be acceptable.
Sunday, Sept. 4
Officers responded at 2:50 a.m. to an East View Drive residence in response to a complaint, and the matter was resolved.
At 9:39 a.m. a caller from Lloyds Beach reported swimmers in distress, but by the time police got to the scene, the swimmers had made it to the beach.
At 1:22 p.m., A Fall River motorist who had been driving down Tompkins Lane said the wind blew over a vegetable stand as he was passing by it, and the stand struck his vehicle causing damage. No one in the vehicle was injured.
At 4:41 p.m., two residents came into the police station to report having had a verbal confrontation. After police spoke with everyone, the matter was resolved.
At 5:25 p.m., a car stopped at the intersection of Main Street and Stone Church Road was rear-ended by another car. Both drivers were taken to the hospital and the vehicles were towed from the scene having sustained heavy damage.
At 7:59 p.m., a citizen turned in a wallet left at Simmons Cafe. Police contacted the owner who came to retrieve it.
After being police said her vehicle was observed swerving while traveling on Crandall Road at 10:34 p.m., Sarah Simone, 30, of Fairhaven, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and refusing to take a breathalyzer test.
