Monday, Aug. 22

At 3:31 p.m., a Long Highway resident reported receiving an IRS scam call.

At 4:34 p.m., an Amesbury Lane resident reported receiving several IRS scam calls.

A tractor towing a large piece of equipment on West Main Road at 4:44 p.m. struck a number of mailboxes, scattering mail into the road.

Little Compton Police: Tractor hits mailboxes

Monday, Aug. 22

At 3:31 p.m., a Long Highway resident reported receiving an IRS scam call.

At 4:34 p.m., an Amesbury Lane resident reported receiving several IRS scam calls.

A tractor towing a large piece of equipment on West Main Road at 4:44 p.m. struck a number of mailboxes, scattering mail into the road.

At 6:45 p.m., an Old Bull Lane resident reported that her sliding glass door was shattered.

At 9:45 p.m., a Peckham Road resident reported his neighbor's kids were being too loud playing in the pool, causing his dogs to bark.

Tuesday, Aug. 23

At 9:05 a.m., a resident reported losing the license plate to his motorcycle on Crandall Road.

A Burchard Avenue resident reported receiving scam calls from someone claiming to be from the IRS,

At 5:01 p.m., a West Main Road resident reported receiving a scam call from someone claiming to be from the IRS.

At 6:14 p.m., a John Dyer Road resident reported a scam call from someone purporting to be from the IRS.

Wednesday, Aug. 24

After the driver of a car in which he was a passenger was stopped for a traffic violation at 1:35 p.m., William Smith, 59, of Fall River was charged under a court warran.

At 4:57 p.m., a Sakonnet Point Road resident reported someone had damaged her stone wall.

At 5:24 p.m., officers responded to a call that people were trespassing on Warrens Point Beach. The people in question were located and told they were on private property.

At 6:23 p.m., a resident reported being yelled at while he was riding his horse on William Sisson Road. Officers spoke with the person in question and the matter was resolved.

A Taylors Lane resident reported at 8:25 p.m. losing her dog's electric collar along the road somewhere.

Thursday, Aug. 25

At 3:44 p.m., someone turned in a blood-tester found near the Sakonnet Yacht Club. It is being held in the police lost and found.

A resident came to the station at 5:23 p.m. to say that she had lost her keys along Meeting House Lane. AMinutes later he she returned to say she had found them.

Friday, Aug. 26

A Quicksand Pond resident reported at 2:30 p.m. receiving phone calls he believed were scams.

At 3:48 p.m., residents along Burchard Avenue reported having to replace their mailboxes after a car struck them. They were inquiring about seeking reimbursement from the person responsible.

At 8:12 p.m., a Quicksand Pond Road resident called to say her husband had gone swimming in the pond and hadn't returne. Officers responded, and after a brief search found the person who said he was okay.

At 9:41 p.m., a Sea Spray resident reported her daughter had received a crank call.

Saturday, Aug. 27

At 11:04 a.m., a Willow Avenue resident reported finding a set of keys along the road. The owner was contacted and the keys were turned over to her.

At 12:26 p.m., a West Main Road resident reported receiving what he believed was a scam call.

At 8:47 p.m., a Sakonnet Point resident reported losing his wallet.

At 9:24 p.m. a South Shore Beach visitor reported losing his wallet.

At 1:24 p.m., a South Shore Road resident reported a neighbor was providing parkingfor cars on his property for beach-goers.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986.
