TIVERTON, LITTLE COMPTON — Amy Veri, a Little Compton resident, appears to have won her bid in the Republican primary, to face Louis P. DiPalma, a Democrat, in the November General Election in the race for the Senate District 12 seat in the General Assembly.
She garnered 58% (283 votes) of the total vote in the District 12 balloting, besting Richard A. Rom, who collected 42% of the vote (206 votes). Polls closed at 8 p.m.
District 12 consists of Little Compton, and portions of Middletown, Newport, and Tiverton.
The final, unofficial breakdown of the voting in these communities was:
• Little Compton: Amy Veri 73.6% (106 votes); Richard Rom 26.4% (38 votes);
• Middletown: Amy Veri 57.8% (129 votes); Richard Rom 42.2% (94 votes);
• Newport: Amy Veri 47.4% (9 votes); Richard Rom 52.6% (10 votes);
• Tiverton: Amy Veri 37.9 % (39 votes); Richard Rom62.1% (64 votes).
