Anderson: Process is substance in town government

Posted

In important ways, process is the substance of democratic, citizen-based self-government. I sincerely believe that decision-making and policy-making by means of well-understood rules and procedures, which are practiced fairly and consistently, will produce better outcomes for the public. Inclusive decision-making procedures, based on good information and with professional assistance where needed, can generate the genuine public support necessary to ensure that such outcomes will be durable and cost-effective.

I think my experience in town, whether in community organizations or in town government, demonstrates a proven commitment to such fair and open procedures,

If elected, I will strive to work deliberately and cooperatively with others, a step at a time, to alter the tenor and direction of town government. I want to support and foster a town administration that reflects the full array and diversity of Little Compton residents--many of whom, I believe, may feel that their concerns are not being adequately addressed under current town leadership.

Democratic candidate for Little Compton Town Council
