Hopton: LC council values civility over divisiveness

Posted

The majority of Little Compton residents share an appreciation for many aspects of our community. These include the natural beauty, great beaches, small town friendliness (i.e. recent community dinner on the Commons) and local farms with their hardworking farmers, to name just a few.

However, it seems to me that with their civility, competence and everyday diligence, our current Town Council may be our most under appreciated asset. I am running for a seat on the council because I would be honored to serve with this group, who quietly go about their business, and have for years, in an honorable, courteous and efficient manner.

Unfortunately, there are so many examples throughout the state of incompetence and corruption in government, on both sides of the political isle, which we can all list ad nauseam, but it is nice that Little Compton has been spared that through good, honest leadership. With the mean-spiritedness and divisiveness of today’s political climate, it is not at all an attractive time to venture into politics but also it is never a more important time to participate in preserving the Little Compton we love so much.
