John K. Fitzgerald, 53, of Little Compton, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, Sept. 22, 2017.  He was the husband of Heather (Bixby) Fitzgerald.

Born in Fairborn, Ohio, son of the late Raymond L. and Helen O. (MacFarlane) Fitzgerald, he was raised in Tiverton and had lived in Little Compton for 20 years.

He was a circulation librarian for the Tiverton Public Library for 17 years.  An avid reader and history buff, John enjoyed traveling, going to the beach, and cheering on the New England Patriots, but most of all he loved spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Ian M. Fitzgerald of Little Compton; a daughter, Olivia G. Fitzgerald of Little Compton; two brothers, Thomas R. Fitzgerald of Coventry, and Terrance J. Fitzgerald and his wife Mel of North Providence; a sister, Geraldine A. Belanger and her husband Kenny of Exeter; many nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog Charlie.

He was the brother of the late Marilyn R. Levy.

Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of John's Life on Saturday, Sept. 30 at 10 a.m. at Howland's Beach, 279 Howland Beach Road, Westport.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the library of your choice.
