To the editor:
Personal freedom is important to all Americans. We are free, for example, to move anywhere in our country our pocketbooks will allow. We are free to pursue interests and professions that make sense to us. We are free to vote, or not, once of age by secret ballot. We are also free to do or say damn near anything we wish.
Recent examples in Tiverton are a huge toilet and a crude sign, both right on Main Road.
But there is another facet to personal freedom. We are free to use self-restraint, to view others with respect, and to be cooperative, good neighbors. Just because we can do something does not compel us to do so. So, to lovers of huge toilets and crude signs, I simply ask if you love your community and believe that this town belongs to us all.
