Letter: Westport man's comments were shameful NIMBY-ism

Posted

I read with much concern the article on the proposed school on Old Harbor Road. I do not know the quality of what is proposed for either education or treatment. I do know that there is a desperate need for treatment of adolescents.

My concern is the comments made by Matthew Forbes of 468 Old Harbor Road. To compare children to toxic waste speaks to incredible intolerance and ignorance. Forbes epitomizes the arrogance some people of privilege exhibit and he should be embarassed. He is a classic NIMBY. Let someone else deal ith a problem that impacts our entire society. Shameful.

To whom much has been given, much is expected. I want better neighbors than that.
