Patricia B. Maloney, 91, of Little Compton, passed away peacefully at Charlton Memorial Hospital on Monday November 19, 2018. She was the wife of Timothy Maloney and mother of Courtney Maloney.

Patricia was born in New York City, and grew up in Mobile, Alabama; Santa Fe, New Mexico and Long Beach California. Her parents were the late Floyd Bolster, a Coast Guard officer, and Marie Wright Bolster.

Patricia travelled the world as one of the first female flight attendants for Pan American Airlines, as an administrative assistant for the US Army Corps of Engineers during the rebuilding of Japan after World War II, and as secretary for the Commander of the US Army hospital in Livorno, Italy, where she met her husband of 52 years.

After settling in Little Compton in 1968, Patricia worked in the Chaplain’s office at Naval Station Newport, and concluded her career as administrative assistant to the Readiness Commander, Region One. Patricia loved to cook and was a passionate gardener; she specialized in creating enticing pathways and comfortable resting spots with picturesque views.

Survivors include her husband, daughter, and son-in-law Martin Allen; numerous siblings-in-law, nieces and nephews, and grand-nieces and –nephews, including Eileen (Maloney) Leary, Anne (Leary) Stock and Margaret (Leary) Dooley, formerly of Little Compton; and dear friends.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday evening, November 26, from 4-7 p.m. at Fern Acres Funeral Home, 72 Willow Avenue, Little Compton. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, November 27, at 11 a.m. at Fatima Cemetery, South of Commons Road in Little Compton. A cortège will depart from the funeral home at 10:30 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Little Compton Ambulance Fund, P.O. Box 552, Little Compton, RI 02837.

Special thanks to the Little Compton ambulance service, the nurses of Southcoast VNA hospice, and all the staff of Atwood 4 at Charlton Memorial for their exceptional kindness and care.
