TIVERTON — A Tiverton police raid on a Main Road barber shop Tuesday netted a considerable amount of heroin and led to the arrest of the shop owner, Jesse Rego, 39, of 138 Briarwood Ave., Tiverton.

At 12:15 p.m., Tiverton police officers and the Bristol County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at the Upper Cuts Barber Shoppe, 434 Main Road in the north end or town.

There officers report finding 170 bags of heroin and $571 in cash.

Mr. Rego is charged with possession with intent to deliuver a controlled substance (heroin). He is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday, May 3, in Newport District Court.

Rhode Island Department of Health records indicate that Mr. Rego is licensed as an apprentice barber.

The arrest followed an extensive investigation into reports of drug dealing out of the barber shop, Tiverton police say.
