PORTSMOUTH — The Portsmouth High School boys’ varsity hockey team continued its fine season with a 10-3 win over Mt. Hope on Wednesday, Jan. 4, at the Portsmouth Abbey rink.
The Patriots scored five goals in the first period, three in the second, and two in the third. Mt. Hope was held scoreless in the first period, and scored two in the second and one in the third.
The win improved the Patriots’ league record to 4-0 in Division II, and 4-2 overall. Their other league wins came over Narragansett/Chariho co-op (6-1 on Dec. 9), Ponaganset (5-3 on Dec. 11) and South Kingstown/Westerly co-op (8-3 on Dec. 18).
Portsmouth will next face Coventry at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 8, at the Abbey.
Future games include Rogers/Middletown/Tiverton co-op at the Abbey at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 15; St. Raphael/PCD co-op at 7:40 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 21, at the Lynch Ice Rink; Lincoln at 5:50 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 22, also at the Lynch Ice Rink; North Smithfield/North Providence/Johnston at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 28, at the Abbey; and Cranston/Scituate Boys at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 29, also at the Abbey.
