PORTSMOUTH — There were no top-three finishes among either of Portsmouth High’s swim teams at the R.I. Interscholastic League’s State Swim Meet on Saturday, but the Patriots did manage to make a little noise.

The girls came in 14th place as a team, earning a total of 56.5 points at the meet which was won by Barrington High.

The boys took 21st place with 14.5 points, with Bishop Hendricken taking home the championship.

The best showing Saturday was a sixth-place finish by the girls’ 200-yard freestyle relay team. The foursome of Bella Barber, Honorah Dougherty, Mae Marston and Ella Gilpin clocked a time of 1:49.67 to earn 26 points for their team.

The same squad came in 14th place in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 2:06.74 and earning six points.

Gilpin also had a good day in the individual races. The junior placed seventh in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:05.11 to earn 12 points for the Patriots. She also came in 10th place in the 500-yard freestyle, earning seven points and clocking a time of 5:46.93.

Marston, a sophomore, earned 2.5 points for the Patriots by clocking 2:30.92 in the 200-yard individual medley, good enough for a 14th-place tie. She also earned a point by coming in 16th place in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:16.79.

Barber, a junior, and Dougherty, a senior, each picked up a point for their team by coming in 16th place in the 200-yard freestyle (2:16.62) and the 100-yard backstroke (1:08.55), respectively.

Marc Alcolea Vila scored all of the boys’ points, notching 11 with his eighth-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle (53.06 seconds). The junior also tied for 13th place in the 100-yard backstroke (59.93 seconds) to earn another 3.5 points.
