Barrington team wins summer league championship

Tryouts planned for Sept. 8 and 9

The Barrington Youth Basketball Association's Sixth Grade team recently won the Division 1 Championship in the Mass Premier Courts Summer League.

Also, the Barrington Youth Basketball Association will hold tryouts for Metrowest league travel teams on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 8 and 9. 

The Friday tryout will run from 5 to 9 p.m., while the Saturday tryout is from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. All tryouts will be held at Barrington Middle School.

"Gender and grade level schedule will be announced in late August," stated a release from BYBA. Anyone interested in playing should visit www.bybahoops.com to pre-register.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once.
