Crowd soaks up solar eclipse from Barrington Town Hall

Young and old attend historic event

Posted

Hundreds of people flocked to the lawn in front of Barrington Town Hall to get a glimpse of the historic solar eclipse on Monday afternoon, Aug. 21.

Titlted "The Great American Eclipse," the event was sponsored by the Barrington Recreation Department and the Astronomical Society of Southern New England, Inc.

ASSNE amateur astronomers were on hand with specially filtered telescopes and solar glasses for safely viewing the eclipse. This is the first time in 38 years that a total solar eclipse has been visible in the lower 48 states.

He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
