PORTSMOUTH — The familiar sound of galloping hoofs were heard throughout Common Fence Point on Saturday, as the Caroling by Horseback event brought holiday cheer to all.

The mini-parade, which stepped off from Common Fence Point Boulevard in front of the CFP Arts, Wellness, & Community Center at 11 a.m., was held by several 4-H riders on horseback and also featured Santa Claus, an elf, and The Grinch.

Neighbors were asked to donate canned foods, and a large collection of non-perishables were received by The St. John’s Food Pantry on Sprague Stree. Additional monetary donations went to Portsmouth Santa Tours.
