Letter: Sticking with transfer station makes financial sense
To the editor:
(Here’s the) cost of waste disposal options in Portsmouth:
• Transfer station: $210 plus $80 for PAYT bags (my cost) for 12 months = $290
• Mega Disposal: Approximately $320 for 12 months
• Waste Management: Approximately $450 for 12 months
• Republic Services: Approximately $300 for 12 months
In addition, at the Portsmouth Transfer Station, I can dispose of yard waste, hedge and tree clippings, tree leaves, garden weeds and debris, etc., whenever my trash cans are full. It also provides disposal of used engine oil and oil filters from mowing machines, automobiles/trucks and a power generator at no extra cost.
Common sense tells me I’ll continue to use the Portsmouth transfer station services.
