Mary Ryan, 71 of Portsmouth, formerly of Tiverton, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 17, peacefully at home after her battle with cancer.

Mary was the daughter of the late Vernon and Rosamond (McVey) Robertshaw.  She is survived by her sisters, Phyllis Peterson (husband Paul) of Arizona and Janice Connelly (husband Thomas) of East Providence.   Mary leaves behind daughter Megan Ribeiro (husband Michael) of Fall River; sons Michael Ryan of Portsmouth and Timothy Ryan of Fall River; and daughter-in-law Sara Gonchar of Fall River.  Mary also leaves behind grandchildren Zakk, Alexander, Xavier, Torin and Olivia, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Mary was a life-long resident of Tiverton.  She was a graduate of Sacred Hearts Academy in Fall River.  She attended Rhode Island College.   Besides being a homemaker, she was well known locally for her skills as a baker/cake decorator, seamstress and crafter.

Mary’s funeral Mass will take place at St. Christopher’s Church in Tiverton on Monday, Oct. 29, at 10 a.m.  It will be followed by burial at Pocasset Hill Cemetery.  Those in attendance will be invited to enjoy a meal with her family in celebration of Mary’s life at her favorite restaurant, Family Ties.

The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations to Dana Faber by made in Mary’s name.  www.ameida-pocasset.com for on-line guestbook.
