Nancy E. DeSouza, 67, Little Compton

Nancy E. (Ferreira) DeSouza, 67, of Little Compton, passed away peacefully Saturday, August 26, 2017, at St. Anne's Hospital, with her family by her side following a brief illness.  She was the wife of David R. DeSouza.

Born in Newport, daughter of Elizabeth M. (Kelly) Ferreira of Portsmouth, and the late William Ferreira, she had lived in Little Compton since 1969. 

Prior to retirement in 1998, she was a telephone operator for NYNEX.  She was also co-owner and founder of Dunham Hill Inc., Coming Attractions, Inc. and Molly Lot Enterprises, all of Little Compton.  Mrs. DeSouza was a communicant of St. Catherine of Siena Parish, Little Compton, and was an avid reader.  She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, who was happiest when she was with her family.

Including her mother and husband, survivors include two sons, David R. DeSouza, Jr. of Fall River, and Mark G. DeSouza of Little Compton; three brothers, William P. Ferreira of NC, David A. Ferreira of N. Kingstown and James M. Ferreira of Portsmouth; four grandchildren, Michael, Emily, Lily and Jacklyn; and several nieces and nephews.

Her funeral, to which relatives and friends are invited, will be Wednesday, August 30, from the Potter Funeral Home, 81 Reed Rd., Westport, at 9 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Catherine of Siena Church at 10. Calling hours Tuesday, 5-8 p.m.

Burial in Union Cemetery, Little Compton.
