Portsmouth High boys take 2nd in Class B championship

Girls’ team comes in third place

PORTSMOUTH — The Portsmouth High cross-country teams made a strong showing at Saturday’s Class B Championship at Ponaganset High School. 

The boys’ team came in second place, while the girls’ took third along the 5-kilometer course. Barrington High School took top honors in both categories.

The contest featured especially impressive displays by two underclassmen. 

The Patriots’ Sean Gray, only a sophomore, came in second among the boys with a time of 16:23.54. Gray, in fact, was the only sophomore and the youngest runner among the top 19 finishers.

Another standout performance came from junior Allie Kaull, who came in fourth among the girls with a time of 20:43.29.
