PORTSMOUTH — Two Providence residents were arrested on drug charges by Portsmouth Police on Tuesday.
According to Detective Lt. Michael C. Arnold, the arrests were the results of several weeks of investigation by the Detective Division into individuals who were distributing fentanyl/heroin and introducing the drugs into the Portsmouth area.
Lt. Arnold said on Monday, Erlin Taveras, 32, of 247 Jewett St., Apt. 3, was arrested after he sold “a quantity of fentanyl/heroin to an undercover police officer.” He was charged with manufacturing, possession and delivering a controlled substance.
Also arrested was Krystal N. Lopez, 28, of the same address. She was charged with conspiring to deliver a controlled substance.
Both of them have “extensive criminal drug histories” and were scheduled to have been arraigned in 2nd District Court in Newport on Tuesday, Lt. Arnold said.
Police seized a vehicle and $900 in cash as a result of the investigation, he said.
