Portsmouth Police charge 3 people with trafficking cocaine

PORTSMOUTH — Three out-of-town individuals were arrested Thursday, April 27, and charged with trafficking cocaine following an investigation by the Portsmouth Police Department, DEA Providence, and the Newport Police Department.

Investigators seized about 380 grams of suspected cocaine as a result of the investigation, according to police. 

The arrests took place at about 2 p.m. Thursday during a traffic stop on East Main Road. 

Charged were the following:

Francisco Vazquez Ramos, 39, of Cranston, was charged with two counts of manufacturing/possession/delivery of a Schedule I/II drug; manufacturing/possession/delivery-1 ounce to 1 kilogram; and conspiracy.

Sergio Ricard, 35, of Providence, was charged with manufacturing/possession/delivery-1 ounce-1 kilogram; and conspiracy.

Nictsa Garcia, 49, of Cranston, was charged with two counts of two counts of manufacturing/possession/delivery of a Schedule I/II drug; and conspiracy.

All three suspects were scheduled to have been arraigned in 2nd Division District Court in Newport on Friday, April 28.
