PORTSMOUTH — Two men were charged by police with domestic assault in separate incidents over the past week.

On Saturday, Aug. 18, Brandon Kidd, 42, of 706 Park Ave., was arrested after police responded to a report of a domestic disturbance at a Park Avenue residence around 9:45 p.m.

According to Detective Lt. Michael Arnold, a 43-year-old female told police she had been grabbed, shook and held down on a bed.

Mutual aid was provided by Tiverton Police due to a high call volume, Lt. Arnold said.

On Wednesday, Aug. 15, Ian E. Duarte, 26, of 15 Meeting St., Newport, was also charged with domestic assault after police responded to a Union Street address to investigate a 911 call that came in around 4:15 a.m.

Upon arrival, police said officers spoke to a 25-year-old female who reported that she and Mr. Duarte had argued and she was grabbed around the neck. Officers observed red marks and bruising around the area where the victim indicated she was held, police said.
