PORTSMOUTH — The Portsmouth Police Department received a National Gold award from AAA Northeast for the quality of its traffic safety education and enforcement programs.
AAA Northeast honored Rhode Island communities for their traffic safety education and enforcement programs during a luncheon Nov. 2 at the Providence Marriott Hotel.
AAA Northeast Senior Vice President Lloyd Albert presented Portsmouth’s award and also honored community “traffic safety hero” Officer James Francis.
Officer Francis was recognized for his efforts in enforcement of impaired driving violations.
AAA Northeast is a nonprofit auto club with 62 offices in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Jersey, New Hampshire and New York.
