PORTSMOUTH — The Portsmouth Portuguese American Citizens Club will hold the 89th annual Saint Anthony’s Feast on Thursday to Sunday, July 13 to 16. There will be food, games, rides, entertainment and fun for all ages. Everyone is welcome.
The midway will open at 5 p.m. on Thursday to Saturday and at noon on Sunday. On Thursday and Sunday, wristbands that cover all the rides will be $20 each. Rides and games will be provided by Rockwell Amusements.
Food will be available beginning at noon on Thursday.
On Thursday, beginning at 5 p.m., the fifth annual “Saint Anthony Feast Cruise Night” will feature antique cars. Anyone wishing to display their vehicle is welcome. Entertainment will be provided by Mr. Chubb.
On Friday, there will be live entertainment by Dirty Deeds at 8:30 p.m.
On Saturday, July 15, Portuguese-style roast beef sandwiches will be served beginning at 5 p.m. From 3 to 5 p.m., children can make their own sundaes at an ice cream social.
A dunk tank is from 3 to 6 p.m. Come out and try to dunk club officers and members of the Portsmouth police and fire departments. All proceeds will go to The PPACC Scholarship Fund.
The transfer of Saint Anthony from Carlone’s Florist to the Portuguese Club will take place at 6 p.m., followed by a concert by St. Isabella Band of Bristol. At 9 p.m., live entertainment will be provided by Downcity Band.
On Sunday, July 16, the Procession of Saint Anthony will begin at the club at 10 a.m. and proceed directly to Saint Anthony’s Church for Mass at 10:30 a.m. Following Mass, Portuguese peasant soup will be served to all, free of charge, on the club grounds at noon.
Portuguese music and folk dancing will be followed by the annual auction at 1 p.m..
All donations for the auction will be accepted at the club and should all be in by Saturday, July 15.
