Alleged Portsmouth porch package pirate is arrested

PORTSMOUTH — A woman who was caught on surveillance video allegedly stealing a package from the porch of a home on Wapping Road has been arrested, police said.

Cheyanne M. Brannen, 21, of 74 Islington Ave., was charged with larceny or under $1,500 after turning herself into Portsmouth Police around 5:45 p.m. Saturday, according to Detective Lt. Michael C. Arnold

On March 7, police received a complaint that a package had been stolen from the home on March 4, Lt. Arnold said.

After an investigation, an arrest warrant for issued for Ms. Brannen for larceny. She turned herself in on March 10 and was held overnight.

Ms. Brannen was transported to Women’s’ Intake Center at the Adult Correctional Institutions in Cranston, where she was held on another violation.

She was to be arraigned on the larceny charge in 2nd District Court Monday, March 12.
