Expanded Cumberland Farms opens in Portsmouth

PORTSMOUTH — The new-and-improved Cumberland Farms store at 1812 East Main Road opened its doors to the public on Wednesday, Oct. 24.

The old store, located across the street from St. Barnabas Church, was torn down to make way for a new building more than double in size (4,250 square feet), with six gas fueling pumps.

The larger store displaced several businesses that were located in a strip mall, including Chris’s Diner, which closed in September 2017 after 47 years in operation.

The new store is complete with an interior high-top bar counter and outdoor patio seating for in-store dining, along with 17 customer parking spaces.

The food menu has also expanded to feature a variety of specialty items, including ciabatta sandwiches and “Mac ’N Cheese Bites,” which can be ordered on self-service electronic ordering terminals.

The store is also offering several new beverage options, such as smoothies, frozen espresso and milkshakes, as well as specialty coffee drinks including espresso, cappuccino and lattes.
