Independence Park goes country Sunday night when two southern bands take the stage, one of which is a national TV star.

The following bands are scheduled to perform Sunday when the Bristol Fourth of July Concert Series returns:

Bobby Carlson & The Stones River Band

Sunday, June 25, 6:30 p.m.
Bobby Carlson & the Stones River Band presents "what's happening today in country music with "a little bit of yesterday" mixed in.  Bobby has won the Massachusetts Country Music Award for Male Vocalist of the Year several times and has formed a touring band with seasoned veterans of the LA/Boston/Nashville country scene.  This band always surprises everyone with their professional upbeat shows.

Buddy Jewell

Sunday, June 25, 7:45 p.m.
One of Arkansas’ favorite sons, Buddy Jewell, the = first winner of the USA Network's Country Music reality TV show "Nashville Star," will perform in concert tonight.
After winning Nashville Star, Buddy's self-titled first album (produced by Clint Black) debuted at number one on Billboard Magazine's country album chart and number 13 on the Pop charts, and was certified gold in both the US and Canada within a month. The first two singles "Help Pour Out the Rain (Lacey's Song.") and "Sweet Southern Comfort," each climbed to the number three spot on the singles chart.  His second album, Times Like These, which included the top 20 hit, "If She Were Any Other Woman," reached number 5 on the Billboard album chart.
In addition to performing across the United States, Buddy has become an international artist playing in China, Japan, Central America for Compassion International and much of Europe. The man who has supported so many causes sang for the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan on an historic 2013 USO Tour. Here at home he's been a national spokesman for St Jude's Children's Research Hospital. Buddy is an exceptional entertainer and a true gentleman.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
