PORTSMOUTH — As it does every year, Escobar’s Highland Farm will be lighting off fireworks over its cow pasture on the Fourth of July on Tuesday.

The display will begin after it gets dark, around 9:30 p.m.

There are many vantage places around town to see the fireworks, so viewers are asked not to clog Middle Road with vehicles.

As always, donations toward the fireworks display are always welcome. You can drop them in the milk can the Escobars keep in front of the farm at 133 Middle Road.

Reading of ‘Declaration’

Also on July 4, people of all ages are invited to participate in the fourth annual public reading of the Declaration of Independence at 10 a.m. on the grounds of the Portsmouth Free Public Library.

Each person may read aloud a marked section of our nation’s founding document. Copies will be available free of charge, or you can bring your own.

In the event of rain, the reading will be held in the library’s program room.

For questions or further information contact Anne Wagner, organizer, at 401/683-3272.
