Kathleen T. Doherty, formerly of New York City, died Saturday, Nov. 18, 2017, at home in Newport, R.I.
Born Feb. 7, 1927, in Manhattan to John Sheridan and Rose Flood Curran, Kathleen enjoyed a long career with the New York Telephone company.
After a short break she returned to work in the Catholic Archdiocese of New York.
Kathleen was a loving and supportive mother to four children she raised alone: Patricia Chase of Portsmouth, Joan Breakell of Jamestown, Michael Doherty of New York City and Thomas Doherty of San Francisco. She was the proud grandmother of nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She also leaves her sisters, Rosemarie Doherty of New York City and Nancy Ryan of Fernandina Beach, Fla., and many nieces, nephews and friends in New York and Newport.
Her beauty, bravery, ready wit, generosity and strength will be remembered and missed by all who knew her.
Donations in Kathleen’s name to Visiting Nurse Services of Newport and Bristol Counties Hospice or the Women’s Resource Center of Newport would be appreciated.
