To the editor:

My father was a World War II veteran who worked many years in one of those jails (Ash Street, New Bedford, Mass.) which is now being overseen by Sheriff Hodgson. (“Sheriff Hodgson: Too much time on his hands,” April 6, 2017 editorial)

He took an early retirement after being shot during an escape by one of the inmates. Too bad he is no longer with us as he could arrange for you to help serve coffee and orange juice to those nice people being held against their will behind locked doors and bars. 

How about, sit down with them and watch some TV? Perhaps you would like to enjoy some exercise with them and yuk it up in the weight room? Better yet, wouldn’t you like to spend a few months in charge of these nice people in one of our prisons? 

Yeah, too bad my dad is no longer with us. I’m sure he’d like to comment on what you had to say about sheriffs and inmates. Then again, your readers wouldn’t get to see it because it would be unprintable. My guess, there are other people who don’t much care for some of your stinkin’ editorials.
