Portsmouth Police charge four with driving while intoxicated

PORTSMOUTH — Here are some highlights from the Portsmouth Police reports from over the past week.

Thursday, May 17

Joao M. Medeiros, 60, of 3 Johnson Court, Bristol, was charged with domestic assault after police responded to the area of West Main Road at Dunkin’ Donuts to investigate a reported domestic disturbance. Mr. Medeiros was also charged with driving with a suspended license, police said.

Friday, May 18

John A. Coleman, 47, of 211 Rogers Lane, Middletown, was arrested on a bench warrant issued from 2nd District Court after that vehicle he was in was pulled over for a traffic violation on West Main Road at Melville School around 4 p.m.

Brian K. Whipple, 58, of 27 Donna Drive, was charged with driving while intoxicated (second offense) around 5:35 p.m. Police made the arrest on Donna Drive at Debra Drive after receiving a request to check the condition of the driver. Mr. Whipple was also charged with driving with a suspended license.

Theresa R. Deschenes, 44, of 22 Bradford St., Apt. 2, Bristol, was charged with driving while intoxicated (first offense) after being pulled over for a traffic violation on West Main Road at Turkey Hill around 10:10 p.m. Ms. Deschenes was also cited for refusing a chemical test.

Matthew R. Hart, Jr., 21, of 13 Donna Drive, was arrested on a warrant after police responded to his home around 11:25 p.m.

Saturday, May 19

Jacob D. Mumme, 25, of 781 Bristol Ferry Road, was charged with driving while intoxicated and illegal possession of a weapon following a motor vehicle accident on East Main Road around 12:25 a.m. Mr. Mumme was also cited for refusing a chemical test.

Tuesday, May 22

Jorge A. Schoen Cruz, 39, of 576 Park Ave., was charged with being a fugitive of justice after police served him with an arrest warrant at home around 9:30 a.m.

Joshua R. Haywood, 32, of 286 East Road, Tiverton, was charged with obtaining money on false pretense after being arrested on a warrant on East Main Road just before 5 p.m.

Richard F. Neville, 57, of 2060 Main Road, Tiverton, was charged with driving while intoxicated (first offense) after being pulled over on West Main Road at the Middletown line around 5:30 p.m. Police said they received a request to check the condition of the operator.
