PORTSMOUTH — Police arrested a 55-year-old Middletown man Tuesday and charged him with breaking into 15 Point Road Restaurant several weeks ago.

Lino A. Loyola, of 4B Buck Road, Middletown, was charged with breaking and entering into a business, public building or ship with felonious intent.

He is the same man who Tiverton Police charged with breaking into the waterfront Boat House restaurant on Schooner Drive in that town and stealing cash and liquor. That incident was first reported on Feb. 28.

The incident at the popular Island Park restaurant was first reported on March 4, when Portsmouth Police investigated a B&E that had previously taken place.

Several employees at 15 Point Road said they observed vandalism inside the restaurant along with the theft of some electronic equipment. They also reported damage to most if not all the food that had been kept inside the kitchen and in other storage areas.

Police investigated and secured a warrant for Mr. Loyola on March 6, and he was taken into custody by Middletown Police at about 7:35 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12, according to Portsmouth Detective Lt. Michael Arnold.

Mr. Loyola was scheduled to be arraigned at the 2nd District Court in Newport Wednesday morning, he said.

Police Chief Thomas Lee  thanked members of the public for their tips in this case, along with the Middletown and Tiverton police departments for their assistance in the investigation.
