PORTSMOUTH — A New Bedford woman was charged with driving while intoxicated last week after a police officer found her and two other occupants unconscious inside a car parked at a traffic light, according to police.
Police responded to the intersection of Bristol Ferry and West Main roads shortly before 5 a.m. on May 30 after receiving a report of a white sedan parked at the traffic light for multiple cycles.
When an officer arrived, he found Dominique L. Gomes, 27, of 127 Cottage St., New Bedford, and two passengers inside. They were unconscious and unresponsive to his repeated banging on the car window, police said.
After two more officers responded to the scene, all three occupants woke up but were “extremely dazed,” police said. Ms. Gomes continuously nodded in and out of sleep, had trouble walking and her speech was not understandable, police said.
