PORTSMOUTH — His last game as a high school player ended with a loss, but Cole Swider of Portsmouth still has a bright future ahead of him.

The 6-foot-8-inch power forward plays for St. Andrew’s School in Barrington, which lost to Tilton School (New Hampshire), 99-92 in the NEPSAC Class AA Boys’ Basketball finals on Sunday at Rhode Island College in Providence.

A member of the Portsmouth High School boys’ varsity team before transferring to St. Andrew’s, Swider scored 32 points in his final game for the Saints.

The senior had a homecoming of sorts on Saturday, when St. Andrew’s defeated Cushing Academy, 75-69, in a semi-final game that was moved to Portsmouth High School due to a power outage in Barrington.

Swider, who’s ranked 48th in the national high school Class of 2018 by ESPN.com, has committed to play for the Villanova Wildcats starting next fall.
