Barrington Pop Warner survey asks 'Do you love football?'

Survey results will help determine whether Barrington will have tackle football teams this fall

The Barrington Pop Warner Football and Cheerleading program has released a survey to gauge future enrollment for the league's tackle and flag football teams.

The league has experienced a recent drop-off in participation. Two years ago, Barrington Pop Warner had five tackle teams, but last year the league was only able to field two teams.

Officials are working to increase the enrollment numbers and are also trying to gauge how many boys and girls are interested in playing football for the Eagles this fall.

The survey asks just a few quick questions — including whether the youngsters want to play tackle or flag football for Barrington or if they don't plan on playing — and rewards those who fill it out with a Dunkin Donuts gift card or a Barrington Pop Warner T-shirt.

The survey will be available until April 11.

Once the survey is closed, league officials will use the data to help determine if Barrington Pop Warner will field tackle football teams this fall. Early registrations have reflected a fair amount of interest in both tackle and flag football.

Barrington Pop Warner is also sponsoring a number of local events in an effort to increase visibility for the league. Officials will have tables at the Primrose Hill School bowl-athon, the Nayatt 5K road race, and the Hampden Meadows School Tough Tiger adventure race.

Barrington Pop Warner will also host a special movie night at the Barrington High School auditorium on Thursday, April 26 at 7 p.m. The event is open all kids in town.

More details

• The organization is — for the first time ever — offering flag football for boys and girls ages 5 to 10.

• Barrington Pop Warner is planning a Memorial Day flag football tournament in town.
