EAST PROVIDENCE — The East Providence High School boys’ and girls’ swim teams hosted Cranston West in Division III meets Wednesday, Feb. 7, at the Boys & Girls Club in city, the former earning a tie while the latter dropping its decision to the Falcons.

The Townies and West finished in a rare 47-47 draw in the boys’ meet, Dan Forsythe (50 yard freestyle, 100 free) and Yanis Benadouda (100 backstroke, 500 free) each won a pair of events individually for the locals, who saw their record move to 2-0-1 in league duals at the conclusion of the meet. The duo was joined by David Capobianco and Owen Charron on the winning 400 free relay team. East Providence’s other win came in the 200 free relay from the team of Jake Pezza, Richard Costa, Matthew DaSilva and Andrew Lethbridge.

Cranston West recorded a 46-39 win over the Townies in the girls’ portion of the meet. Raisa Luu claimed a pair of solo wins for East Providence (100 butterfly, 200 individual medley). Mary McBride (100 free) and Ellen Phillips (100 breaststroke) also won individually for the Townies. The same trio and Christina Capobianco combined to also win the 200 medley relay. McBride, Capobianco, Emily Ramsey and Isabelle Wetmore teamed to win the 200 free relay. The Townies fell to 0-3 in D-III duals at the time.
