Lloyd E. Broomhead, 68, of Riverside and Naples, Fla., passed away peacefully Monday, Sept. 25, 2017 at home with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Sue (Dudley) Broomhead.

Born in Providence, son of the late Lloyd S. and Frances E. (Bottomley) Broomhead, Lloyd grew up in Barrington and lived in Seekonk, Mass. for many years before moving to Riverside six years ago.

Lloyd was a logistics manager for Citizens Bank and was a co-owner with his late father of the former Laura Carr’s Catering in Providence.

He was a 1967 graduate of Barrington High School. He graduated in 1968 with a post grad degree from Bridgton Academy in Bridgton, Maine, and attended the University of Arizona in Tucson.

Lloyd was known for his larger-than-life personality, and was happiest cruising Narragansett Bay on his boat with family and friends, making everyone laugh and watching his beloved Patriots.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his loving daughters, Jessica B. Howell and her husband, Chris of Natick, Mass., and Alexandra T. Broomhead and her fiancé, Matthew Chudy of Barrington; one sister, Ann A. Broomhead and her husband, Timothy Szczesuil of Littleton, Mass.; and his beloved grandson, Thomas Howell of Natick.

A service of remembrance and thanksgiving will be held Saturday, Oct. 14 at 11 a.m. in St. John’s Episcopal Church, 191 County Road, Barrington. His burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Lloyd’s memory to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund, Attn: Natanya Stryhas, 10 Brookline Place, 6th Floor, Brookline, MA 02445 (http://www.myjimmyfundpage.org/give/broomhead) or the Audubon Society of RI, 12 Sanderson Road, Smithfield, RI 02917 would be appreciated. For Directions and Guest Book, please visit www.bellowsfuneralchapel.com. Arrangements entrusted with Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln.
