Mary Rego, 83, Rumford

Mary (Cardose) Rego, of Rumford, died peacefully at home after a brief illness on October 4, 2017. She was the wife of Luis P. Rego, having married in April of 1958.

Born June 21, 1934 in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Dias) Cardose of East Providence. Mrs. Rego spent the majority of her professional career at the former Major Electric in Pawtucket, where she worked for some 25 years in the accounts department.

She was a proud native of the Fox Point section of Providence, a graduate of The Cleary School in Providence and St. Mary Academy-Bay View in East Providence. Mrs. Rego was in the past an active member of school parent organizations at St. Margaret School and St. Raphael Academy, of the East Providence Democratic Committee, of the Bay View alumnae, and a communicant at St. Margaret Church in Rumford, where she also served on the parish council.

Mrs. Rego leaves two sons: Frank, and his wife Lisa, of Rumford and Michael, and his wife Michele, of East Providence; and her three beloved grandchildren: Chelsea, Adam and Joseph. She was the sister of Hope Cardose of East Providence.

Arrangements are by Perry-McStay Funeral Home, 2555 Pawtucket Ave., East Providence. Calling hours are Saturday, Oct. 7, from 8:30-9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Margaret Church, 1098 Pawtucket Ave., Rumford, at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Autism Society-R.I. Chapter, PO Box 16603, Rumford, R.I., 02916, would be appreciated.
