The Barrington Juniors All Star team was scheduled to play in the District 2 Championship game on Tuesday, July 18, after the local team defeated Rumford 11-4 in a must-win game on Monday night.

Josh Leadem started on the mound for Barrington and pitched well. He allowed only two runs over five-plus innings. Nolan Fletcher and JC Niemeyer finished out the game on the mound for Barrington.

Leadem also helped his own cause with several hits and stolen bases. Aaron Brady, Noah Mincone and Michael Zeleznik also had key RBI hits in Monday night's victory.

The 11-4 win propelled Barrington into a winner-takes-all District 2 final, which was slated to be played on Tuesday afternoon, after this newspaper went to press.

Barrington opened the All Star season with a 15-4 win over Pineview in five innings. Nolan Fletcher, Josh Leadem and George Promades all contributed on the mound. Leadem, Bennett Durkin and Promades each had big hits in the victory.

Barrington lost to Rumford 12-0 in its second game, but bounced back with an 8-0 win over Tiverton. Promades threw a complete-game no-hitter, striking out 11 batters and walking just two. while Matt Borden delivered a big RBI double to deep left. Brady and Leadem also played well in the win.

The win over Tiverton allowed Barrington a second chance at Rumford for the district championship, and the win Monday night forced Tuesday's deciding game.
