Daniel Barbosa, 86, formerly of East Providence

Daniel Barbosa, 86, of Scarborough, Maine, passed away Monday, December 5, 2016 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House. He was the husband of J. Lucille (Fagnant) Barbosa.

Born and raised in East Providence, he was the son of the late Gaudino and Marion (Suarse) Barbosa. Mr. Barbosa proudly served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War, and a founding member of the Third Marine Division. In 1955, he married Lu, the love of his life, with whom he shared 61 wonderful years. He was a foreman of the electrical hoist and crane department for Walco Electric Company, where he worked for 44 years before retiring. He was a former communicant of Saint Martha Parish and Saint Francis Xavier, in Rhode Island, Saint Michael the Arch Angel, of Florida, and Saint Maximilian Kolbe of Maine.

Besides his wife, he leaves two daughters, J. Renee Richardson and Michelle Pritchard, and son in law, Paul Pritchard, of Scarborough, Maine; daughter-in-law June Panzini Barbosa, Port Richey, Fla.; three grandchildren, Thomas Charltray, Sarah and Michael Pritchard; two great grandchildren, Jude Charltray and Cody Pepin; and one sister, Barbara Sousa of Seekonk. He was preceded in death by his son, Daniel P. Barbosa of Port Richey, Fla. He was the brother of the late Mary Barrett, James Barbosa, Alice Cote, Marion Shields, and Gaudino (Bob) Barbosa.

His life will be celebrated at a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 17, at Saint Martha Parish, East Providence. Internment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence to follow.
