EAST PROVIDENCE — East Providence Police officers have arrested two suspects from Providence in a shooting during a robbery attempt at a residence near the intersection of Waterman Avenue and Green Street on Friday, Aug. 10.

Jermaine Perry, 21, and Destin Holloway, 20, were taken into custody Sunday, Aug. 12, as part of the shooting investigation and have been arraigned on the charges of Robbery, Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Discharging a Firearm During a Crime of Violence, and Conspiracy. The suspects are currently being held at the Adult Correctional Institution in Cranston.

A 28-year-old male, who was also not a resident of East Providence, was the victim in the crime. He fled the scene but waslocated short time later at Rhode Island Hospital with a non-life threatening gunshot wound.

Mr. Perry is a resident of Felix Street and Mr. Holloway of Iona Street both in Providence.

In a press release, the EPPD administration emphasized the incident was isolated.

“The East Providence Police Department assures residents of the area that this was not a random act and that the shooting was a result of a robbery,” said EPPD Detective Lieutenant Ray Blinn. “There is still information we are not releasing due to this still being an active investigation.”
