Eight apply for Barrington school finance director job

Former director, Ron Tarro, retired last Friday

Posted

The deadline to apply has passed and a special committee has started reviewing the applicants interested in becoming the Barrington School Department's next finance director.

Barrington superintendent Michael Messore said the school department received applications from eight qualified applicants. The school district began searching for a new finance director shortly after Ron Tarro announced he was retiring.

Mr. Tarro began working for the Barrington School Department in 2001, having previously served in the role of finance director/treasurer for Barrington's municipal government.

Mr. Messore said the search for a new finance director is made more difficult because the position requires individuals with experience.

After screening the applications, the special search committee will conduct interviews.

The school department's finance director plays a key role in managing the district's nearly $50 million annual operating budget, as well as capital improvement projects.
