To the editor:
I thoroughly enjoyed your story (East Providence Post Thursday, February 7) on Dion Hazard and the Editorial regarding the past, present and future of EP Hoops was wonderful.
I read this edition yesterday afternoon and surprisingly my wife and I ran into Derek LaCroix EP 2002 last night in Cranston. It was fun to share with him your story. I even ran out of the restaurant we were in to see if the Post was still in my car from the afternoon so I could share it with Derek. It wasn't, but Derek told me he works in East Providence so I hope he picks up a copy.
Your story and our encounter with Derek also prompted my wife to hit the "Ricci Archives" to find the attached photo of a First Team All Stater and member of the 1,000 point club at EP - Curtis Alves Class of 1979. Curtis was a great Townie student athlete and a wonderful gentleman.
It might be a fun postscript to your story.
