EAST PROVIDENCE — The suspect in the Tuesday, June 14, robbery of a TD Bank branch in city was arrested in Pennsylvania Friday morning, June 17.
The East Providence Police Department made the announcement in a press release issued mid-afternoon Friday.
The suspect is identified as Nicholas J. Casaburri, 34, with a last known address of 288 Swan St., Providence. Mr. Casaburri also has addresses out of Leominster, Mass., and Norwalk, Conn.
On June 15, East Providence Detectives positively identified Mr. Casaburri through several sources including the Leominster Police Department and a very alert officer with the Seekonk Police Department. An arrest warrant was obtained for Mr. Casaburri and law enforcement agencies throughout the Northeast were notified that he was wanted in East Providence.
At approximately 2 a.m. Friday morning the East Providence Police Department was notified by the Manheim, Pennsylvania Police Department in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania that they had stopped and detained Mr. Casaburri. At the time, Mr. Casaburri was in possession of his 2016 Mitsubishi vehicle, which was suspected of being used in the bank robbery. Mr. Casaburri was subsequently arrested and held as a Fugitive from Justice.
Members of the East Providence Police Department’s Detective Division are en route to Pennsylvania to continue with the investigation.
