17th annual Touch-A-Truck is Saturday in the city

This weekend, the East Providence Area Chamber is hosting its 17th annual Touch-A-Truck event. This event gets bigger and better each year, with more vehicles, activities and attendance. Over 30 different vehicles will be on display for children to climb aboard, touch or pretend to drive. Mascots from local sports teams and companies will greet attendees and available to take free photographs.

Local businesses and organizations provide the vehicles and volunteers, and many of the sponsors host free games and distribute promotional items from their booths! This is a family-friendly event for those young and old!

WHEN: Saturday, Sept. 30, from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

WHERE: East Providence Area Chamber Parking Lot, 1011 Waterman Ave., East Providence

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
