Posted by rsulli20

The 24th Annual George K. Baker Golf Tournament to benefit the Newman YMCA, a branch of the YMCA of Greater Providence, will take place August 14th. For four generations, the Baker family has played an integral role in the local community. George K. Baker’s father, Herbert “Salty” Baker, opened Rumford Aquarium in 1936 and with the help of his son, George and grandson Michael, was able to grow it into a very successful pet-food distributor, Pet Food Experts, Inc.

The George K. Baker Golf Tournament was created in 1993 to honor the Baker family’s contributions to the community and the instrumental role George has played in the Newman YMCA’s growth over the past 30+ years.
