5th annual Bristol Harbor Festival & Blessing of the Fleet

The Bristol Harbormaster’s Office and the local fishing community are teaming up, once again, to host the 5th Annual Bristol Harbor Festival & Blessing of the Fleet on Saturday, August 18, at Rockwell Park on Thames Street in Bristol. The event kicks off with a Blessing of the Fleet for commercial and recreational vessels at 1:30 p.m., followed by a full range of family activities, including a "stuffie" competition, live music, tours of fishing vessels, and a traditional native littleneck boil, caught and prepared by local fishermen.

WHERE: Rockwell Park, Bristol
WHEN: Saturday, August 18: beginning at 1:30 p.m.
COST: Free; $20 for the littleneck boil

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
