Adelino Paiva Costa, 65, Bristol

Adelino Paiva Costa, 65, of Canario Drive, passed away on March 3, 2017 at RI Hospital. He was the husband of Lucilia Conceicao (Machado) Costa.  

Born in Rabo de Peixe, Sao Miguel, Acores, he was the son of the late Manuel da Costa Leitao and Nascimento (Paiva) Leitao. He was the father of Joyce (Kenny) Oliveira of Bristol and Doryan P. Costa of Warren, and grandfather of Cristiano Oliveira and Dominic Oliveira. He was the brother of Jose Leitao (the late Sophia) of Providence, Antonio Leitao (Ofelia) of Pawtucket, Edmundo Leitao (Leonilde) of Rabo de Peixe and late Manuel Leitao, Domingos da Costa and Eduardo Leitao. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Beatriz da Costa of Pawtucket, and Fatima Leitao of Seekonk.

Mr. Costa was the plant manager at Robin Rug for 28 years before retiring. He was the president of St. Elizabeth’s Church Holy Ghost Committee.

His funeral services were held March 7 from the George Lima Funeral Home, with a Mass of Christian Burial concelebrated by Rev. Richard Narciso, Rev. Luis Garcia Dutra, Rev. Jared Constanza and Rev. Joao daPonte at St. Elizabeth’s Church.

The liturgical readings were by Donna Goncalves and Christine Melo, and The Prayer of the Faithful was read by Jennifer DaSilva and Suzana Fallon. The offertory gifts were presented by Kenny Oliveira, Cristiano Oliveira and Domenic Oliveira. Burial followed in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Michael da Costa, Antonio Leitao, Maurino Leitao, Nelson Moniz, Jason Moniz and Matthew Moniz.
